The Arizona Wildcats and Boise State Broncos meet for the first time in the Vizio Fiesta Bowl.
The Boise State Broncos wasn't as fearsome as we have seen from this team over the years but then again an 11-2 record is nothing short of outstanding. The Broncos were capable in all phases with the defense allowing 367 yards and under 27 points behind a top 40 run D that gave up 141 yards. Opposing defenses faced a Boise attack that approached almost 500 yards and 40 points that possessed top 30 passing and rushing numbers. Grant Hedrick completed a staggering 71% of his throws for 3,387 yards for 22 scores and a high 13 picks. Jay Ajayi was the workhorse on the ground with 1,705 yards and 25 TD's and was the third leading receiver with 536 yards while Thomas Spurlock and Shane Williams-Rhodes were one, two among receivers with 678 yards and 585 yards respectively.
The Arizona Wildcats played some close back and forth games which made them very entertaining to watch with six of their victories coming by a single score. The D was in the bottom quarter of the rankings with 449 yards allowed although less then 28 points with 278 yards given up through the air was a great job of keeping the scoreboard manageable. The offense racked up 462 yards and 35 points with 278 yards coming via the pass. Quarterback Anu Solomon was outstanding in the air with 3,458 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Cayleb Jones was tops among receivers with 902 yards with Samajie Grant and Austin Hill totaling around 1,200 combined yards. Nick Wilson paced the ground game with 1,289 yards with Terris Jones-Grigsby next in line with 528 yards.
The Broncos are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in December with the over going 4-0 in Broncos last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and 7-1 in Broncos last 8 games overall. For Arizona the under is 4-0 in Wildcats last 4 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points while the Wildcats are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games on grass with the under going 6-1 in Wildcats last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. There will be a lot of talent on the field for this one and I think both will be able to score points so I'm looking at the over...
