The Bowling Green Falcons look to strengthen their grip on the MAC East lead when the Kent State Golden Flashes visit.
The Kent State Golden Flashes are often overlooked and sometimes are just marked down as a win for opponents. It looked to be the case against Toledo in week eleven as they trailed 16-0 heading in to the locker room before making a game of it in a 30-20 defeat. The Rockets won the yardage battle 422-334 with the ability to both run and throw whle the Golden Flashes were mainly productive on the ground but ultimately three turnovers killed them. Colin Reardon threw for 96 yards and a pick with Nathan Strock leading the second half comeback with 67 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception. Strock added another 75 rushing yards on five totes with Nick Holley contributing 95 yards including a 50 yard scoring jaunt.
The Bowling Green Falcons might be flying a bit under the radar but they sit atop the MAC East with a 4-1 conference mark following a 27-10 defeat of division foe Akron in week eleven. The Falcons are not known for shutdown defense but their play on that side of the ball has been solid and they were at their best versus the Zips who gained nearly 400 yards but also lost a pair of fumbles and thre three interceptions. BGSU took advantage of the mistakes which gave a boost to their 389 yards with some semblance of balance. James Knapke had some accuracy issues with a 17-34 effort for 170 yards and a ten yard touchdown to Roger Lewis. The Falcons bread and butter was on the ground where the duo of Fred Coppet and Andre Givens who combined for 214 yards on 32 totes with Givens adding a 46 yard TD.
The under is 4-0-1 in Golden Flashes last 5 conference games while the Golden Flashes are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. For Bowling Green the under is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 games overall and is 4-0 in Falcons last 4 Wednesday games while going 4-0 in Falcons last 4 games on fieldturf. Head to head the Golden Flashes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Bowling Green and the over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings while the Golden Flashes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. The Falcons need this one far more then Kent State and if they can't get up for this game at home they are going nowhere...
