The Line: California Golden Bears -13.5 -- Over/Under:
The Washington State Cougars travel to the California Golden Bears in a Pac 12 conference clash on Saturday.
The California Golden Bears look to stay undefeated on the season after beating Washington last weekend. The Cal offense has averaged 45.8 points per game with 542.5 yards per game. Jared Goff is the quarterback for Cal with 1240 yards for 11 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Khalfani Muhammad leads the Cal rushing attack with 309 rushing yards and 1 touchdown. Vic Enwere also is a leading rusher for Cal with 209 yards and 5 touchdowns. Kenny Lawler and Trevor Davis lead the way for Cal in receiving; Lawler has 294 yards and 6 touchdowns while Davis has 222 yards and 1 touchdown. The Cal defense has given up 22.3 points per game with 382.8 yards per game. The Cal defense has 13 sacks, 5 fumble recoveries, and 9 interceptions. Cal has been looking very good, especially in the passing game where they will look to hurt the Washington State secondary this week.
The Washington State Cougars look for a good road win after they beat up on Wyoming last week. The WSU offense averages 28.3 points per game and 449.4 yards per game and is ran by quarterback Luke Falk who has thrown for 1070 yards with 8 touchdowns and 1 interception. Washington State passes the ball a lot but their leading rusher is Gerard Wicks who has 135 yards with no touchdowns. The receiving game for Washington State is a three-headed monster with Gabe Marks who has 273 yards and 2 touchdowns, River Cracraft who has 230 yards and 1 touchdown, and Dom Williams who has 210 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Washington State defense has allowed 24 points per game and 368.3 yards per game. The WSU defense has 9 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and 2 interceptions. Washington State opened the season with a bad loss to Portland State but has rebounded nicely and they look poised to cause some problems for teams in their conference.
Cal is 4-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record in their last 5. Cal is 6-17 ATS in their last 23 home games. Washington State is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games. Washington State is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games in California. The over is 5-1-1 in Washington State’s last 7 October games.
While Washington State has improved from its bad start to the year, Cal has looked very good and will be very confident after starting the year 4-0. Since Cal is at home and the better team, I am going to take Cal to win this one easily.
