The Line: Syracuse Orange -6 -- Over/Under: 46
The Syracuse Orange shoot for their third straight win when the Central Michigan Chippewas visit the Carrier Dome.
The Central Michigan Chippewas opened the season with a gritty performance in losing to Oklahoma State but they found the going much easier in a 31-10 win versus FCS Monmouth to even their record at 1-1. The Chips opened a 31-3 lead at the half as the Hawks offense was held to just 181 yards with CMU adding just over 400 yards. The Chips did struggle on the ground with less then a 100 yards and less then 2 ½ yard average but they were dominant in the air. The Chippewas had zero problem throwing with Cooper Rush completing 25-36 for 328 yards with three touchdowns and an interception with Ben McCord snagging an 83 yard scoring strike.
The Syracuse Orange rode a dominating second half performance on both sides of the ball to defeat Wake Forest 30-17 to up their record to 2-0. The Demon Deacons won the yardage battle 419-370 but lost the turnover battle 3-0 with quarterback John Wolford tossing three interceptions. Even with injuries under center the Orange didn’t press the issue on the ground with six players combining for 149 yards and around a four yard average. The Cuse found the air much more inviting with Eric Dungey going 8-13 for 221 yards with Steve Ischmael and Brisly Estime hauling in 53 yard and 89 yard touchdowns respectively.
The Chippewas are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games while going 0-6 ATS in their last 6 vs. ACC. The under is 4-0 in Orange last 4 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while Syracuse are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. MAC and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win. Central Michigan is dangerous but I like the Orange at home in this spot…
