The Toledo Rockets are set to visit Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Michigan for a MAC clash against the Central Michigan Chippewas. The Toledo Rockets come into this matchup with a 6-5 record, and they will be looking to rebound after dropping their recent home game against the Buffalo Bulls, 49-30. Junior QB Eli Peters struggled to get much offense generated though the air for Toledo as he connected on 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 163 yards and a TD. Sophomore RB Bryant Koback had a productive game on the ground for the Rockets as he ran for 99 yards and a TD.
The Toledo Rockets struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Buffalo Bulls as they allowed them to score 49 points and rack up a total of 503 yards of offense. Junior DB Tycen Anderson led the way for the Toledo defense with 12 tackles and 1 TFL. The Rockets were able to get into the Buffalo backfield a handful of times as senior LB Jordan Fisher contributed 7 tackles and 2 TFL while senior safety DeDarallo Blue pitched in 6 tackles and 1 TFL.
The Central Michigan Chippewas come into this matchup with a 7-4 record, and they will be looking to continue their success after winning their recent road game against the Ball State Cardinals, 45-44. Senior QB Quinten Dormady had a solid game through the air for Central Michigan as he connected on 27 of his 38 pass attempts for 356 yards and 1 interception. Senior RB Jonathan Ward had a big game on the ground for the Chippewas as he ran for 105 yards and 4 TDs on 24 carries.
The Central Michigan Chippewas struggled on the defensive side of the ball against the Ball State Cardinals as they allowed them to score 44 points and rack up a total of 499 yards of offense. Sophomore LB Troy Brown led the way for the Central Michigan defense with 8 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 interception. The Chippewas were able to get into the Ball State backfield a handful of times as senior DL Sean Adesanya contributed 3 TFL and 1 sack.
The Central Michigan Chippewas are one of the most improved teams in college football as they only won 1 game during the 2018 season, and they will continue their success at home against an average Toledo team. The Toledo Rockets will be down their 3rd starting QB in this game with Carter Bradley, but I am concerned for the Rockets on the defensive side of the ball as they are allowing an average of 30.6 PPG. Central Michigan has a two-headed monster in the backfield with Jonathan Ward and Kobe Lewis as the duo has combined for 1790 yards and 23 TDs this season, and Toledo has struggled with stopping the ground game as they are allowing an average of 211.4 yards per game. Central Michigan will control the clock with their ground game, and they will win this game without much of a problem.
