The Maine Black Bears are gunning for a road win at the Central Michigan Chippewas in week four college football action.
The Maine Black Bears rallied past Western Kentucky 31-28 in week two to enter their bye week with a big upset as a ten point road dog. Maine was outgained 389-324 and rallied from a 21-0 first quarter deficit.
Black Bears quarterback Chris Ferguson connected on 11-28 for 185 yards and three touchdowns along with a 45 yard pick six in the opening quarter.
Micah Wright paced the Mane receiving corps with a pair of scoring receptions. Ramon Jefferson caught a 51 yard TD strike. And ran for 60 yards on 12 carries while Joe Fitzpatrick topped the Black Bears on the ground with 82 yards on 21 touches. The Maine defense got on the scoreboard as well with a 50 yard fumble return.
The Central Michigan Chippewas have kicked off the season with three straight losses following a 24-16 defeat at Northern Illinois in their MAC opener as a two touchdown underdog. Central Michigan held a 322-284 yardage edge but a pair of turnovers negated that advantage.
Chippewas quarterback Tommy Lazzaro connected on 13-22 for 128 yards and a touchdown with an interception while Tony Poljan hit on 5-11 for 30 yards.
Lazzaro also gave CMU 55 rushing yards and a TD on 12 touches with Jonathan Ward adding a team high 74 yards on 16 carries. Julian Hicks led the Chippewas in receiving with seven receptions for 63 yards including a four yard scoring catch.
