The FAU Owls and the Charlotte 49ers meet in a week 5 C-USA college football matchup in conference action from Jerry Richardson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Charlotte 49ers will look to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last four games following a 52-10 loss to Clemson in their last outing. Chris Reynolds has thrown for 630 yards, 7 touchdowns and 3 picks on 63.3% passing while Benny LeMay leads the 49ers in rushing with 432 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and Ishod Finger has 225 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. FAU is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games in September while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall. Charlotte is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 conference games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. The under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
This is an interesting game on the schedule as there’s no shame in Charlotte getting beat down by Clemson as it’s happened to better teams and neither side has beaten up on anyone noteworthy in their victories. However, FAU was supposed to have the reputation of an offensive power and it’s only been recently that the Owls have awoken from their slumber. On the other hand, Charlotte had been rolling on offense, putting up at least 41 in each of their first three games before falling to Clemson. It’s hard to call, which is probably why this game is near a pick ‘em. I don’t love this game, but if forced to pick, I’d think this is the game that bucks the trends and goes over the total.
