Connecticut Huskies (3-4) at Cincinnati Bearcats (3-3)
|Date & Time||Saturday October 24, 2015, 4:30 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Cincinnati Bearcats -13 -- Over/Under: 57.5
The Connecticut Huskies travel to Nippert Stadium to take the field with the Cincinnati Bearcats.
The Cincinnati Bearcats appear to have the offense to compete but their defense has allowed too many points. Neither side of the ball did enough in the second half of a 38-24 defeat at Brigham Young where they were outscored 28-7. The Cougars rolled up 449 yards with balance while the Bearcats totaled 341 yards but no real explosiveness. Cinci quarterback Hayden Moore connected on 15-30 for 219 yards with Shaq Washington grabbing five balls for 103 yards. The Bearcats found little success on the ground with Mike Boone being the only runner of significance with 53 yards on nine carries.
The Connecticut Huskies have probably played better then 3-4 record indicates but they are in need of some momentum with losses in three of four following a 28-20 loss to visiting South Florida. The Huskies moved the ball easily with 528 yards but struggled to score while the Bulls did their damage on 461 yards despite a pair of turnovers. UConn quarterback Bryant Shirreffs carried the offense through the air with 365 yards with a touchdown and pick on 28-41 with Alec Bloom and Noel Thomas pacing the receiving corps with 191 yards on 12 receptions. Shirreffs was the star of the UConn rushing attack with a 100 yards and a score on 19 carries with Arkeel Newsome adding another 58 yards.
The Huskies are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games in October and are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 conference games while going 5-1 in Huskies last 6 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The under is 5-0 in Bearcats last 5 games in October and the Bearcats are 4-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record while the under is 6-0 in Bearcats last 6 vs. a team with a losing record. The Huskies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the favorite is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings while UConn are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Cincinnati. Almost two touchdowns is too much for me to pass up although this could be a rout…
