The Line: Louisville Cardinals +3 -- Over/Under:
The Louisville Cardinals look to break in to the win column against the Clemson Tigers Thursday.
The Clemson Tigers will be look for their third consecutive victory after routing Appalachian State 41-10 in week two. The Tigers jumped to a 31-0 lead at the half on the way to 392 yards before taking their foot off the gas over the final 30 minutes. The Mountaineers were held to less then 300 yards and turned the ball over four times while throwing a pick six. Wayne Gallman gave the Tigers a bit of a running threat with 79 yards on 15 touches including a 23 yard scoring burst. That was more then enough because Clemson was deadly efficient through the air with DeShaun Watson throwing for 248 yards on 19-26 with three touchdowns and a pick with Charone Peake catching a pair of TD’s with Artavis Scott hauling in another.
The Louisville Cardinals have been very competitive through two games but that hasn’t helped them in the win column. The Cardinals dropped to 0-2 following a 34-31 loss to visiting Houston as almost a two touchdown favorite. The Cougars had more yards, 462-395 and won the turnover battle 4-1 and had a 100 yard kickoff return. UL struggled to move the chains on the ground with 43 yards from Brandon Radcliff being the highlight of the rushing attack. Lamar Jackson gave the Cardinals 168 passing yards with two interceptions and a scoring toss to Ja’Quay Savage while Kyle Bolin threw for 157yards and hit Micky Crum with another scoring strike.
The under is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 games following a ATS win while the Tigers are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games in September and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. The over is 4-0-2 in Cardinals last 6 games on fieldturf and the Cardinals
Cardinals are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games while going 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. Clemson might be on the road but they are very talented and I think laying the small chalk is a solid investment…
