The Line: Clemson Tigers -37.5 -- Over/Under:
The Louisville Cardinals will visit the Clemson Tigers at Clemson Memorial Stadium on Saturday in ACC college football activity.
Louisville comes into this one with a 2-6 record overall. The Cardinals’ wins came against Indiana State and Western Kentucky, and they’ve lost to Alabama, Virginia, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Boston College and Wake Forest.
In the Wake Forest game, Louisville QB Jawon Pass put up 358 yards and a TD, and Trey Smith led the rush on 98 yards and three scores. Chatarius Atwell was the lead receiver for the Cards with 132 yards on eight grabs.
Over on the Clemson side, they’re cruising at 8-0 this season. The Tigers’ wins so far have come against Furman, Texas A&M, GA Southern, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Wake Forest, NC State and Florida State.
In the FSU game, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence put up 314 yards and four touchdowns, while Travis Etienne led the rush on 45 yards. Amari Rodgers had a big day for the Tigers, hauling in six catches for 156 yards and two TDs.
The Cardinals are 7-20 ATS in their last 27 overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games. Louisville is 1-5 ATS in their last six following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five in November. Clemson is 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five following a straight-up win.
Louisville’s record looks pretty bad on paper, but they’ve had the unfortunate pleasure of facing some tough teams this season—starting with the Alabama buzzsaw in Week 1. Still, giving up 56 points to the Demon Deacons isn’t quite something to hang your hat on.
As for Clemson, they’ve been rolling since their scare against Syracuse, and their main focus here should be not letting themselves look past this game and onward to Boston College. I don’t think the Tigers will have any issue doing that so I’m going Clemson.
