The San Diego State Aztecs visit Hughes Field to take the field with the Colorado State Rams.
After suffering through a three game slide the San Diego State Aztecs seem to have found their stride with four consecutive victories after throttling visiting Utah State 48-14. This was never close with the Aztecs jumping to a 34-7 lead at the break and never looking back. SDSU led 429-239 in yards while recovering three fumbles and intercepting a pass with 37 minutes of possession. SDSU quarterback Maxwell Smith completed 6-10 for 93 yards with an 18 yard scoring toss to Micah Holder. The Aztecs star was Donnel Pumphrey who ran 23 times for 181 yards and a pair of TD’s with Chase Price adding 94 yards and another score.
The Colorado State Rams will be shooting for badly needed back to back wins to keep their Bowl hopes alive. The Rams didn’t have a whole lot of problems with the Air Force option with a 456-406 yardage edge and a pair of forced turnovers. CSU leaned hard on the passing of quarterback Nick Stevens who completed 23-30 for 296 yards with three touchdowns and an interception with Joe Hansley catching three balls for 75 yards and two score while Rashard Higgins logged seven receptions for 74 yards. Jasen Oden was Colorado’s only runner of significance and was a good one with 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns on eleven carries.
The Aztecs are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and the under is 4-0 in Aztecs last 4 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while the Aztecs are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games in October. The under is 7-1 in Rams last 8 vs. a team with a winning record and the Rams are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while going 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games in October. The under is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings in Colorado State and the underdog is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings while the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. I really like what I see from San Diego State and I’ll lay the small chalk…
