The Wyoming Cowboys will travel to Hughes Stadium (CO) to take on the Colorado State Rams this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Wyoming Cowboys fell to 2-2 (0-0 MW) on the season after being defeated by the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 27-24, this past Saturday. Wyoming played the Eagles tough but couldn’t fight back after Eastern Michigan took the lead with just 1:35 left on an Ian Eriksen rushing TD. Wyoming was outgained by Eastern Michigan by a 500-313 margin however, did win the turnover battle by a 4-3 margin. Leading the way for Wyoming WR Tanner Gentry who had 12 receptions and 127 yards. On the season, Wyoming is averaging 31.5 ppg on 398.3 total yards per game (216.5 passing, 181.8 rushing). Offensively, the Cowboys have been led by RB Brian Hill who had 6 rushing TD’s on the season while averaging 115.75 rushing yds/game. QB Josh Allen has completed 61.9% of his passes for 6 TD and 6 INT while averaging 216.5 yds/game. Allen’s main targets at the WR position have been Tanner Gentry (7.3 rec/game, 97.0 yds/game, 3 TD) and Jake Maulhardt (3.8 rec/game, 65.0 yds/game, TD). Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 33.8 ppg on 443.8 total yards per game (297.8 passing, 146.0 rushing). Wyoming has struggled with turnovers this season as they’ve committed 10 turnovers and have a turnover margin of minus 2.

The Colorado State Rams had their two game winning streak snapped and fell to 2-2 (0-0 MW) on the season after being defeated by the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 31-24, this past Saturday. Colorado State had trouble stopping the rushing attack of the Golden Gophers and couldn’t overcome a 17-7 halftime deficit. Colorado State was outgained by Minnesota by a 417-369 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-1 margin. Leading the way for Colorado State was WR Michael Gallup who had 6 catches for 53 yards and a TD. On the season, Colorado State is averaging 25.3 ppg on 372.8 total yards per game (216.5 passing, 181.8 rushing). Offensively, leading the way for the Rams has been rushing attack trio of Izzy Matthews (9.5 att/game, 42.75 yds/game, TD), Dalyn Dawkins (13.33 att/game, 56.0 yds/game, TD), and Marvin Kinsey, Jr. (9.5 att/game, 41.3 yds/game, 2 TD). QB Collin Hill has taken over QB duties for the Rams and has completed 60.3% of his passes for 5 TD and an INT while averaging 174.3 passing yds/game. Michael Gallup (3.8 rec/game, 44.8 yds/game, 2 TD) and Xavier Williams (2.0 rec/game, 45.5 yds/game) have been the biggest threats at the WR position for the Rams. Defensively, Colorado State is allowing their opponents to average 27.5 ppg on 410.3 total yards per game (261.5 passing, 148.8 rushing). The Rams have committed 7 turnovers on the season and have a turnover margin of minus 2.

The Cowboys are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in October however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Rams are 12-3-2 ATS in their last 17 games following a straight up loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.

Wyoming has one of the best RB’s in the Mountain West in Brian Hill and with solid QB play from Josh Allen, the Cowboys are currently averaging almost more than 2 TD’s better on offense than they did in 2015. Colorado State had a rough start to their season against in-state rival in Colorado however, have a solid rushing attack and have to be optimistic with the play they’ve gotten out of freshman QB Collin Hill. Colorado State is always a difficult place to play but I think Colorado State will have a tough time against Brian Hill in this one and as I think the Cowboys defense will force the young QB for the Rams into making a few mistakes, I’m taking Wyoming and the points in this one.

Wyoming Cowboys +6.5
