Southern Methodist Mustangs (0-11) at Connecticut Huskies (2-9)

The Line: Connecticut Huskies -11.5 -- Over/Under:
The Southern Methodist Mustangs end the season looking for their first win versus the Connecticut Huskies.
The Southern Methodist Mustangs have their last opportunity to break in to the win column when they visit Connecticut Saturday. The Mustangs have struggled to score and defend throughout the year and that trend was in place during a 35-9 rout at the hands of Houston in week 14. The Mustangs found themselves in unfamiliar teritory with a 9-7 lead after 30 minutes but the defense couldn't stop the Cougars after the break. At the final gun most of Houston's 433 yards came in the second half and SMU couldn't compete with just 233 yards to lean on. Matt Davis provided a spark for SMU with a 67 yard scoring toss to Jeremiah Gaines and used his legs for another 70 yards but there wasn't much going on otherwise.
The Connecticut Huskies hope to end 2014 on a positive note with a victory over winless Southern Methodist. The Huskies have had mush the same issues as their counterparts with not enough going on either side of the ball which was the case in a 41-10 defeat at Memphis in week 14. UConn trailed 13-3 at the half as a three touchdown underdog before the roof fell in over the final 30 minutes. At the final gun 269 yards wasn't enough to get the job done with Paxton Lynch burning the Huskies secondary with four touchdowns. Ron Johnson paced the rushing attack with 67 yards but it took 22 carries. Tim Boyle tried to move UConn in the air but his 12-24 performance for 160 yards with a TD and interception was half of what was needed.
The Mustangs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and the under is 5-0 in Mustangs last 5 games in December while the over is 4-0 in Mustangs last 4 road games. For Connecticut the Huskies are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record with the under going 5-1 in Huskies last 6 games following a ATS loss while the Huskies are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. Both teams struggle to score and defend but Southern Methodist is far worse then Connecticut. Everybody crushes the Mustangs and the Huskies could do it to but I have zero interest in this one...
