The Line: Duke Blue Devils -8.5 -- Over/Under: 45
The Duke Blue Devils and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons will be fighting it out in Week 2 ACC college football action on Saturday, September 10.
Duke is coming off an impressive Week 1 win over North Carolina Central 49-6. Jela Duncan scored a 50-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage, and it was all Blue Devils from there. Duncan would finish with 115 yards and two scores in the game. Duke was up by three touchdowns before the Eagles even got into Blue Devil territory. As evidence of their dominance, Duke led 49-0 at halftime and scored touchdowns on seven of 10 possessions in the first half. Redshirt freshman QB Daniel Jones also had an awesome game here, throwing for two touchdowns and running in a third. Duke would finish with 535 yards on offense, and gave up only 112 on the other side.
As for Wake Forest, they also secured a victory against Tulane, but theirs wasn’t nearly as impressive. The Demon Deacons would get the win 7-3 and remained unremarkable on offense once again. Kendall Hinton rushed for a short touchdown in the second quarter as Wake Forest’s only score. The Deacons would amass a total of just 175 total yards, with 59 yards and three first downs coming in a very limp second half. Julian Jones would seal the victory for Wake Forest with 50 seconds left in the game, as he striped Glen Cuiellette on fourth down.
Wake Forest is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games on grass, and 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a straight up win. The Demon Deacons are also 0-4 ATS in their last four games in September, and 0-4 ATS in their last four games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game.
Duke came out of the gate strong in Week 1, and looks like they could do a little damage this year if they can stay consistent. I’ll take the Blue Devils to cover in what should be a pretty entertaining offensive game.
