The East Carolina Pirates travel to Annapolis to face the option of the Navy Midshipmen.
The East Carolina Pirates played Florida even for most of their contest on Saturday before falling 31-24 in a mistake filled contest. The Gators gained 373 yards to the Pirates 333 yards but the teams combined for five turnovers and 21 penalties. The Pirates essentially has zero rushing yards but the passing attack was outstanding with Blake Kemp going 34-54 for 333 yards with three touchdowns with a costly pick six. Isaiah Jones led ECU with 14 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown while Bryce Williams snagged nine balls for 83 yards and another score with Davon Grayson adding 56 yards and another TD on four catches.
The Navy Midshipmen enjoyed an almost leisurely opener in a 48-10 rout of FCS Colgate that was never competitive. Navy rolled up 438 yards with just 67 yards coming through the air with quarterback Keenan Reynolds going 3-6 with Jamir Tillman on the receiving end of each throw. The Middies stuck to their bruising run game with Chris Swain leading the way with 126 yards on eleven touches with a 52 yard scoring jaunt while DeBrandon Sanders adding 66 yards on three totes followed by a 44 yard, two touchdown performance from Quentin Ezell. The defense held Colgate to 325 yards and recorded a 56 yard fumble return for six by Kevin McCoy.
East Carolina are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week and the Pirates are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while going 1-7 ATS in their last 8 conference games. The over is 4-0 in Midshipmen last 4 home games and the Midshipmen are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games while the under is 6-1 in Midshipmen last 7 games in September. The road team is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings while the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. I like the healthy Midshipmen here at the small chalk…
