Non-conference college football in week nine pits the Army Black Knights at the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
The Army Black Knights outlasted visiting Miami (OH) 31-30 in double OT as a touchdown favorite despite losing quarterback Kelvin Hopkins to a hip injury before the game. Army was outgained 406-347 and lost a 21-7 lead in the 4th quarter but stopped a two point conversion in OT to secure the win.
Cam Thomas filled in at quarterback for the Black Knights and went 0-2 throwing the ball but came up big on the ground with 137 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. Darnell Woolfolk added 96 yards and a pair of TD’s on 22 touches while the duo of Kell Walker and Andy Davidson combined to give Army another 90 yards on 18 attempts.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles avoided a nail biting finish in a 42-20 rout of the Ball State Cardinals as a three point favorite. Eastern won the yardage battle 420-384 and held a 2-1 turnover edge along with 37+ minutes of possession.
Eagles quarterback Tyler Wiegers connected on 22-28 for 257 yards and three touchdowns while running six times for six yards and another touchdown.
Shaq Vann led the EMU rushing attack with 63 yards on 20 touches with a trip to the end zone while Brock Turner totaled 59 yards on nine attempts. Eastern Michigan saw Line Latu catch three passes for 86 yards and a score with Arthur Jackson III making six receptions for 59 yards and a TD followed by Isaac Holder with three catches for 51 yards and another TD.
