The Line: Eastern Michigan Eagles +6 -- Over/Under: 61.5
The Ball State Eagles will travel to Rynearson Stadium to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles this Saturday afternoon in College Football Action.
Ball State dropped to (1-1, 0-0 MAC) on the season after being defeated by the Texas A&M Aggies by a 56-23 margin this past Saturday. Ball State was down early by just a 7-3 margin however, allowed the Aggies to score 42 straight points and was down 49-3 margin at halftime. Ball State was outgained by the Aggies by a 503-361 margin and was only 2 for 13 on 3rd down. Leading the way for the Cardinals was RB Darian Green (11 carries, 97 yds, 1 TD) and RB James Gilbert (11 carries, 70 yds, 1 TD). Ball State wasn’t able to get much in the air as QB Riley Neal was only 11 for 19 with 116 yds and no TD. Ball State has one of the better WR’s in all of the MAC in Jordan Williams who currently has 10 receptions for 157 yds on the season. Ball State has really struggled on the defense end as they’ve are allowing their opponents to average 46.0 ppg and 525 ypg.
Eastern Michigan was able to rebound from a tough loss against and ODU and improved to 1-1 (0-0 MAC) on the season after defeating the Wyoming Cowboys 48-29. The Eagles went down by a 7-0 margin early in the first but was able to score 38 straight points in the first half and took a 38-14 lead into halftime. Eastern Michigan was able to put up 506 yards on offense in this one and were led by QB Brogan Roback (17-24, 330 yds, 3 TD) and RB Shaq Vann (16 carries, 129 yds, 2 TD). The Eagles had four WR’s that caught more than 50 yards and was led by Eddie Daugherty who had 3 receptions for 105 yards and a TD. The Eagles held the Cowboys to just 32 passing yards but did allow Wyoming to gain 430 yards on the ground. Eastern Michigan protected the ball well not committing any turnovers in the game. Eastern Michigan will continue to look improve on the defensive side of the ball as they are currently allowing 33.5 ppg.
The Cardinals are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Eagles are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game however, the Eagles are just 10-21 ATS in their last 31 games overall.
Both teams are projected to be in the middle of the pack of the MAC this season. I can’t blame Ball State for struggling against a very good Texas A&M team, however, they did have trouble stopping one of the weaker teams in college football in VMI in their opener. Eastern Michigan played a good ODU team tight in their opener and looked impressive going on the road and defeating Wyoming. Both defenses have been pretty bad so I expect a lot of points in this one and think EMU will at worse keep this one within the number. Take EMU and the over in this one.
