The Central Florida Knights travel to instate rival the Florida International Golden Panthers in week four.
The Central Florida Knights look improved despite a 30-24 double overtime loss to Maryland that dropped their record to 1-2. We could argue the Knights outplayed the Terrapins as they outgained them 465-373 but the Terps won the turnover battle 4-0 which is the great equalizer. UCF was just effective enough on the ground to get Maryland’s attention with Jawon Hamilton, Adrian Killins and Dontravious Wilson combining for 176 yards on 33 carries. However, McKenzie Milton gave Central Florida a dangerous passing game, going 21-36 for 260 yards with two touchdowns and an interception with Tre’Quan Smith being the receiving star on eight catches for 114 yards and a score.
The Florida International Golden Panthers have kicked off 2016 at 0-3 which can largely be attributed to a struggling offense. That hurt the Golden Panthers in a 21-13 defeat at Massachusetts as they trailed 394-315 in yards which made a pair of lost fumbles even more costly. FIU quarterback Alex McGough completed 20-34 for 178 yards with target of choice Stantley Thomas hauling in eight receptions for 78 yards but the passing attack could have used a downfield threat. Florida International was dangerous on the ground behind Alex Gardner who rambled for 130 yards on 23 touches including a two yard scoring burst.
The Knights are 0-6 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and the under is 4-0 in Knights last 4 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game while the Knights are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS win. The Golden Panthers are 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss while the Golden Panthers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss. I hate road chalk but I feel that’s the way to go here…
