The Line: FIU Golden Panthers -- Over/Under:
The CUSA college football schedule features the FIU golden Panthers hosting the Rice Owls.
The Rice Owls have had obvious struggles on both sides of the football and those struggles surfaced in a 42-0 loss to visiting UAB as a 17 point underdog. Rice was held to 186 yards while the balanced Blazers totaled 482 yards and recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown.
The Owls used two quarterbacks with Shawn Stankavage completing 7-12 for 79 yards with Evan Marshman hitting 6-16 for 57 yards.
Rice had zero success on the ground with top rusher Austin Walter logging just 31 yards on 19 carries while Austin Trammell posted four receptions for 40 yards and a 35 yard catch by Aaron Cephus was the longest play from scrimmage.
The Florida International Golden Panthers continued their strong play with a 24-21 decision against Middle Tennessee State that upped their record to 4-2. Florida International managed a 381-329 yardage advantage and were mistake free while intercepting a pass.
Golden Panthers quarterback James Morgan connected on 27-36 for 311 yards and a pair of interceptions while running twice for a loss of four yards.
Florida International didn’t run he ball well with Napoleon Maxwell and D’Vonte Price combining for 76 yards on 21 carries. CJ Worton was the Golden Panthers top receiving option with 113 yards on five receptions with the game winning touchdown while Bryce Singleton caught eight passes for 81 yards.
Rice Owls are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss and Rice Owls are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points and Rice Owls are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game. Over is 6-1-1 in FIU Golden Panthers last 8 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and FIU Golden Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and FIU Golden Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
FIU will be a sizeable favorite once the line comes out and the Golden Panthers will be the only choice in my view…
