Saturday college football action features the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats traveling to the Florida Atlantic Owls.
The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats bounced back from a loss to Tennessee State in their opener to pound Lynchburg 79-16 in week two. Bethune-Cookman rolled to a 58-9 lead after two quarters and were never challenged.
Wildcats quarterback Akevious Willams connected on 12-13 for 297 yards with four touchdowns while David Israel hit 6-11 for 150 yards and two scores along with a pick. Malique Jackson was Bethune-Cookman’s top receiver with 162 yards and a pair of scores on four catches while LaDerrian Wilson ran for 25 yards on two totes.
The Florida Atlantic Owls squeezed past Air Force 33-27 as an eight point favorite at home to even their record at 1-1. Florida Atlantic dominated total yards 525-373 but did have a punt blocked for a TD.
The Owls did very little on the ground with Devin Singletary logging 57 yards on 16 carries with a score. FAU quarterback Chris Robison made up for the lack of a running game as he connected on 33-40 for 471 yards and three touchdowns with Jovon Durante posting 12 receptions for 74 yards and a TD followed by Tavaris Harrison with 138 yards on seven catches.
