The Line: Florida International Golden Panthers +3 -- Over/Under:
The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders head to the Sunshine State to face the Florida International Golden Panthers.
The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders have a shot at reaching the postseason but need to finish the year strong. It hasn't been that strong the past three weeks with defeats in two of three following a 27-7 loss to visiting Brigham Young. This game was 7-7 after 30 minutes but the second half was dominated by the Cougars on both sides of the ball. BYU rolled up 444 yards with over 300 yards coming throught the air while the Blue Raiders were held to 228 yards and struggled to move the chains in the air and on the ground. Shane Tucker was the only runner of note with 49 yards on ten carries while quarterback Austin Grammer completed 16-32 for 119 yards with a pair of interceptions and a 22 yard scoring strike to Devin Clarke.
The Florida International Golden Panthers won't be participating in the postseason as a four game slide has sealed their fate. The Golden Panthers are coming off of a 38-35 defeat at Old Dominion where they were simply outscored which is tough to swallow for a team that doesn't score a ton of points. In a nutshell, when FIU scores 35 points the game has to go in the win column. The Monarchs hit a 28 yard field goal with no time left to win it but dominated yardage 525-388 with the ability to both run and throw. The Golden Panthers stayed on the gound to keep Taylor Heinicke and the ODU passing attack on the sideline and were good at it. Anthone Samuel led the way with 137 yards on 25 carries with a TD while Napolean Maxwell added 70 yards and caught a 57 yard touchdown from Alex McGough who totaled 132 yards with a pick and two TD's.
The Blue Raiders are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss and are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss while going 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. For Florida International the over is 4-0 in Golden Panthers last 4 games on fieldturf and is 4-0 in Golden Panthers last 4 games following a S.U. loss while the under is 6-1 in Golden Panthers last 7 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. Head to head the over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 meetings in Florida International while the favorite is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings with the Blue Raiders going 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. I am favoring Middle Tenneessee because thei postseason is on the line although FIU makes me worry...
