The Line: Florida International Golden Panthers +7.5 -- Over/Under:
The Rice Owls butt heads with the Florida International Golden Panthers at FIU Stadium in week ten.
The Rice Owls look to stay on a roll when they pay a visit to Florida International this Saturday. The Owls have been generally strong in all phases of the game in fashioning a four game winning streak after dominating North Texas late in a 41-21 victory. A 31-0 run over the final 30 minutes erased a 21-14 deficit as the Owls led the yardage battle 421-216 and recorded a 60 yard pick six from Ryan Pollard. The special teams allowed a 100 yard kick return but it didn't matter with the defense giving up little and forcing two turnovers. Driphus Jackson got the Owls passing game going when he hooked up Jordan Taylor for an 88 yards touchdown to open the game. Jackson hit on 13-26 overall for 233 yards with Darik Dillard leading an okay ground game with 80 yards and a score while Jowan Davis added 55 yards and a pair of TD's.
The Florida International Golden Panthers look to get back on the winning track in week ten as they come off their bye week where their pride was crushed in a 45-13 loss to visiting Marshall as a three touchdown home underdog. The Golden Panthers trailed just 14-7 heading to the locker room but looked like a different team in the second half and not in a good way. Not surprisingly the Thundering Herd outgained the home team 457-385 and were balanced while FIU did have a bit of success in the air and on the ground but nothing out of the ordinary. Alex McGough hit on 14-27 for 176 yard with a pair of interceptions including a pick six while under quite a bit of pressure. Alex Gardner gave FIU 104 yards on the ground but nothing out of the ordinary and the Golden Panthers needed chunks of yards and points in bunches and neither were available.
The Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a bye week while going 8-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. For Florida Internationalth the under is 6-0 in Golden Panthers last 6 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and is 5-1 in Golden Panthers last 6 games in November while going 5-1 in Golden Panthers last 6 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. Rice easily has the better offense so if they get a decent lead it's going to be lights out for the Golden Panthers. If Florida International keeps this game in the mid 20's they have the opportunity for a cover...
