FIU Stadium and the Florida International Golden Panthers look to slowdown the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers come out of their bye week looking to improve to 9-2. The Hilltoppers have won back to back contests following a 36-19 win against visiting Florida Atlantic as a 25 point favorite. WKY had zero problem moving the ball with a 509-359 yardage edge with the ability to both run an throw. Quarterback Brandon Doughty gave Western Kentucky another big game through the air with 273 yards and four touchdowns and an interception on 24-29. Taywan Taylor led the Hilltoppers with five catches for 87 yards and two scores while Anthony Wales ran for a game high 135 yards with D’Andre Ferby adding 92 yards.
The Florida International Golden Panthers need a win to become Bowl eligible or their season is over. Neither side of the ball has been consistent and that was never truer then in week eleven’s 52-0 loss at Marshall where nothing went favorably. The Thundering Herd led 38-0 at the break on the way to 463 yards while FIU was held to 209 yards and 13 first downs. Quarterback Alex McGough struggled with accuracy with 98 yards and an interception on 11-25 with Julian Williams and Akil Dan-Fodio catching 45 yards in receptions while Anthony Jones was the only viable runner with 73 yards on 16 touches.
