The Line: Florida State Seminoles -20.5 -- Over/Under: TBA
The Boston College Eagles travel to Florida State to play the Seminoles on Saturday afternoon.
The Boston College Eagles dropped to 6-4, 3-3 ACC after losing at home to Louisville 38-19 two weeks ago. The Eagles have been up and down all year, as they haven’t won more than two games in a row, but they haven’t lost back to back games all year. Boston College is allowing only 21.9 points per game, which ranks a solid 23rd in the country this season. The Eagles have allowed only 7, 14, 17, and 31 points in their four road games this season. The Eagles offense is averaging only 26.6 points per game this season, which ranks 81st in the country. QB Tyler Murphy has completed 54.9% of his passes for 1,293 yards with 9 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this season. Murphy also leads the team in rushing with 1,006 yards and 9 touchdowns. RB Jon Hilliman has rushed for 620 yards and 11 touchdowns. WR Josh Bordner has a team-high 22 catches for 301 yards and 3 touchdowns for Boston College this season. Looking ahead, the Eagles will have had two weeks to prepare for this game. Boston College is a perfect 4-0 on the road this season.
The Florida State Seminoles improved to 10-0, 7-0 ACC after beating their in state rival Miami 30-26 last weekend. The Seminoles have fallen behind in several of their games this season, but they continue to fight back and find a way to win. Florida State has won a school record and ACC-record 25 straight games. Against Miami, the Seminoles allowed 492 total yards and forced three game changing turnovers. Florida State allowed 176 rushing yards and 316 yards thru the air last weekend. The Seminoles defense is allowing 22.8 points per game on average this season, which ranks a solid 33rd in the country. QB Jameis Winston completed 25 of 42 passes for 304 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Winston has thrown 8 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in the first half this season, but has thrown 10 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions in the second half. WR Travis Rudolph caught a team high 4 balls for 65 yards, while RB Dalvin Cook rushed for a team high 92 yards on 7 carries with 2 touchdowns. The Florida State offense is averaging an impressive 37.1 points per game, which ranks 17th in the country this season. Florida State will be at home for their last two games, as they host their other in state rival Florida next weekend.
Florida State has won the last three meeting with Boston College, including a 48-34 win last season on the road. The Seminoles struggled against Boston College last season and were extremely close to getting knocked off by the Eagles. Florida State is in a tough spot, having just played a tough game against Miami and they have Florida on deck next weekend. Boston College will be confident that they can hang with the Seminoles after their performance last season. I believe the Eagles will keep it close until the second half in what should be a high scoring game. Florida State will come out flat, per usual, and make a run in the second half. The Eagles will rush the ball effectively and score enough to get the cover on Saturday.
