The Florida State Seminoles will host the Syracuse Orange this Saturday.
The Florida State Seminoles are coming off a devastating loss to Georgia Tech 22-16 last weekend. Florida States playoff hopes just got smaller after this loss. Quarterback Everett Golson completed 20 out of his 30 passes for 210 yards and 1 interception and no touchdowns. Running back Dalvin cook carried the 17 times for 82 yards and 1 touchdown even with battling a hamstring injury. Wide Receiver Kermit Whitfield recorded 6 catches for 61 yards and no touchdowns. Dalvin Cook also added 4 catches for 50 yards. Lamarcus Brutus and Josh Sweat led the defense with an interception each. Florida State will look to shake off this loss and get ready for Syracuse this weekend.
Syracuse has now lost 4 games in a row after losing 23-20 to the Pittsburgh Panthers last Saturday. Quarterback Eric Dungey went 21/30 for 210 yards and 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Dungey also added 6 carries for 38 yards on the ground. Running back Jordan Fredericks carried the ball 12 times for 91 yards and no touchdowns. Receiver Steve Ishmael led the team with 7 receptions for 114 yards and 1 touchdown. Ervin Phillips also had 6 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Syracuse has now dropped 4 games in a row and will face another tough task this weekend traveling to Florida State.
Syracuse is 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. Syracuse is 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 games in October. Florida State is 1-6 against the spread in their last 7 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. The Seminoles are 2-6 against the spread in their last 8 home games.
Florida State is coming off a tough loss so that could possibly roll over to this game. However i think Jimbo Fisher will let his team know that they need win out and blow out some teams to have a chance to get back into the playoffs. Syracuse has lost 4 in a row and i dont see them keeping this game close at all. Take FSU to cover at home.
