The Boise State Broncos and the Florida State Seminoles will meet up on the college football circuit Saturday.
The Broncos are coming out of a 2018 in which they went 10-3 overall and 7-1 in the Mountain West Conference. Due to a head-to-head win over Utah State, Boise State broke the tie in the standings and took the Mountain Division but fell in the MW Championship Game.
Boise State earned a bid to the First Responder Bowl against Boston College, but unfortunately that one was cut off with 5:08 remaining in the first quarter and ultimately cancelled due to weather.
Over on the Florida State side, they managed to go just 5-7 in 2018 and 3-5 in ACC play. That left the Seminoles in fifth place in the Atlantic Division and gave them a losing record for the first time since 1976.
Willie Taggart will return to coach the Seminoles again this year, as will DC Harlon Bennett. Kendal Briles joins the staff as offensive coordinator in his first season.
The Broncos are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four on grass and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 neutral-site games. Boise State is 1-4 ATS in their last five games in August and the under is 5-0 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Seminoles are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. FSU is 1-5 AT Sin their last six games in August and the over is 5-0 in their last five non-conference games.
By most accounts, Boise State should be able to finish atop the Mountain Division once again this season, provided they can get past a solid Utah State team that may give them a bit of a run.
As for FSU, they started out as dogs in this game, but the line has swung the other way and there seems to be some confidence about their ability to come out and play well here. I’m not sure they’ll dispatch Boise so easily, however. I’m going Broncos.
