The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks and the Florida State Seminoles will match up in Week 2 college football action Saturday.
Louisiana-Monroe came out of the gate with a big win over the Grambling State Tigers, taking it 31-9. The Warhawks scored in every quarter of that game and posted 14 unanswered points in the second half.
Caleb Evans finished Week 1 for the Warhawks on 183 yards, one TD and one INT. Josh Johnson had a great day with 173 rush yards and two scores, and Xavier Brown led the Louisiana-Monroe receivers on 68 yards and a TD.
Over on the Seminoles’ side, they fell in their opening-week game, dropping one to Boise State 36-31. The Seminoles were in control 21-6 after the first quarter but didn’t score in the second half.
James Blackman had a nice day for Florida State, posting 327 yards and three scores in the Week 1 loss. Cam Akers was the lead rusher for the Seminoles with his 116 yards and one TD from 15 carries.
The Warhawks are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 on grass and 1-5 ATS versus a team with a losing record. ULM is 1-5 ATS in their last six non-conference games and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 overall.
Meanwhile, Florida State is 1-4 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games. The Seminoles are 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight in September.
The Warhawks looked pretty good in their Week 1 win aside from a few minor mistakes here and there. Still, the rush was strong and the passing game appeared to be solid.
Florida State was stifled later on in their Week 1 loss, but the offensive potential is there. That said, I like Louisiana-Monroe to play well enough to eke out a cover here.
