CFB | Florida State Seminoles (13-0) at Oregon Ducks (12-1)

The high powered Oregon Ducks and the undefeated Florida State Seminoles meet in the Rose Bowl with a trip to the NC at stake.

The Florida State Seminoles shoot for consecutive National Championships when they face Oregon in the semifinals on Thursday. The Sminoles have been far from dominant yet nobody has found a way to beat them as they stand a perfect 13-0 with seven victories coming by single score. The Noles are stingy on defense and can throw which is why they outscored opponents 35-23 despite numerous mistakes by Jameis Winston. Winston threw for 3,559 yards with 24 TD's and a very high 17 picks with Rashad Greene far and away the top receiver with 1,306 yards while Nick O'Leary totaled 614 yards. Dalvin Cook was an explosive option on the ground with 905 yards and 5.8 yard average but when the Noles needed a play Winston had the ball in his hands.

The Oregon Ducks are always a team that is in the National Championship conversation but an unexpexted loss does them in every year. The 12-1 Ducks get that chance with the new playoff format and we'll see how that explosive offense fares. Sure, Oregon only allows 23 points but it's their potent scoring that gets the attention with plenty of throwing and running adding up to 546 yards and 46 points. QB Marcus Mariota leads the way with 3,773 passing yards with a laughable 38 touchdowns and a mere two interceptions. Byron Marshall and Devon Allen were one, two in receptions with 814 yards and 674 yards while Dwayne Stanford and Darren Carrington combined for nearly 1,100 yards. When the Ducks ran Royce Freeman usually had the ball and his 1,299 yards and 5.6 yard average speaks of his elusiveness.

The Seminoles are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while going 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. For Oregon the Ducks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games with the under going 5-0 in Ducks last 5 Thursday games while the Ducks are 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games overall. Obviously Oregon can win big here but Florida State has shown to be tough to put away so I'll back the points...

Florida State +9

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
