The Line: Florida Gators -5.5 -- Over/Under: 58
The Florida Gators and the South Carolina Gamecocks face off on Saturday in a SEC East college football rivalry game.
The Florida Gators have won their last two games and despite their troubles they are just a win away from becoming bowl eligible. After upsetting Georgia Florida stomped Vandy and they are playing their best football of the season. The Florida offense is averaging 30.5 points and 385.2 yards per game and they have made the switch to Treon Harris at QB and e has completed 62.2 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and an interception and he has rushed for 131 yards and three touchdowns. Matt Jones is the Gators leading rusher with 698 yards and five touchdowns and Demarcus Robinson has 36 catches and four touchdowns as UF’s leading receiver. Florida’s defense is allowing 22.9 points and 334 yards per game with 21 takeaways and 20 sacks. Antonio Morrison has an impressive 72 tackles, Dante Fowler has 43 tackles including 3.5 sacks, and Neiron Ball has 40 Tackles. As bad as things have looked Florida hasn’t been eliminated from winning the SEC East.
It has been a disappointing season for the South Carolina Gamecocks as they are 4-5 heading into the final three games of their season. The South Carolina offense is averaging 35.9 points and 479.6 yards and they are guided by QB Dylan Thompson who has completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Mike Davis is SC’s leading ground gainer with 819 yards and eight touchdowns and Pharoh Cooper is the Gamecocks leading receiver with 51 catches and eight touchdowns. The South Carolina defense has been a major disappointment allowing 34.1 points and 460.6 yards per game. T.J. Gurley has 55 tackles, Skai Moore has 51 tackles, and Gerald Dixon has 35 tackles. Some saw South Carolina as National Championship contenders this year but they have come up well short of that.
Florida is 6-0 against the spread against a team with a losing record, 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games, and 1-5 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. South Carolina is 7-3 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 1-4 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 0-4 against the spread following a loss. South Carolina is 2-5 against the spread in heir last seven games at Florida.
The total in this one seems to be on the high side and I like the under in this rivalry. My stronger play is on who will cover the spread and I will post that pick on the Premium Area as well as on the App.
