The Line: Fresno State Bulldogs +10 -- Over/Under:
Bulldog Stadium and the Fresno State Bulldogs host MWC foe the Utah State Aggies Saturday night.
Another year without Chuckie Keeton likely means another season that the Utah State Aggies need the defensive side of the football to come through. Both sides came up big in a 33-18 win against visiting Colorado State who many felt could pull off the upset. It wasn’t happening with the Aggies holding a 435-361 yardage edge while forcing three turnovers. Quarterback Kent Myers gave USU his best Chuckie Keeton impression with 137 passing yards while rushing for 191 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Hunter Sharp was the Aggies top receiver with 63 yards and a score on four receptions while Devante Mays added another 60 yards on the ground on ten totes.
The Fresno State Bulldogs haven’t had much good news thus far with four consecutive defeats to drop to 1-4. To make matters worse the Bulldogs have lost two quarterbacks to injury for the year and removed Zach Greenlee from suspension to face San Diego State in week five. The result was a 21-7 defeat with the Bulldogs generating 89 yards of offense with less then 24 minutes of possession while the Aztecs totaled 409 yards. Greenlee struggled with 77 yards on 12-25 but he did hit KeeSean Johnson with a 16 yard touchdown who caught five balls for 35 yards. Fresno State desperately needed help from the ground game but Marteze Waller’s eleven carry, 20 yard effort being the extent of the rushing success.
The Aggies are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in October and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win while going 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Bulldogs are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall and are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while the under is 5-1 in Bulldogs last 6 games in October. The underdog is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings and the under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings. With Fresno State shorthanded at quarterback I’ll back that Aggies defense…
