The Fresno State Bulldogs welcome the Utah Utes to Bulldog Stadium in week three action.
The Utah Utes improved to 2-0 on the young season by surviving a valiant effort from rival Utah State 24-13 as a 13 point favorite at home. This wasn’t the most exciting game to watch with the Aggies leading in yardage by a 373-327 margin. The Utes defense did their job with four forced fumbles (one recovered) while picking off Chuckie Keeton twice. Travis Wilson ran for 49 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 76 yards but is banged up and might not be available to the Utes in week three. That means Kendal Thompson will be under center and Utah will be leaning more on the running of Devontae Booker and their defense.
The Fresno State Bulldogs probably had no idea they were walking in to a firestorm at Mississippi in week two but I’m sure they figured it out soon enough in a 73-21 defeat where neither side of the ball was up to the task. Ole Miss racked up 607 yards and added insult to injury with a pair of pick six’s. The Bulldogs mustered 316 yards and had a pick six of their own but four giveaways and struggles to run or pass were obvious killers. Chason Virgil threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns with Da’Mari Scott giving Fresno State team highs of five catches and 67 yards. Marteze Waller was the Bulldogs only runner of significance with 91 yards on 28 carries but the team needed passing yards.
The under is 4-0 in Utes last 4 games on fieldturf and is 4-0 in Utes last 4 non-conference games while going 4-0 in Utes last 4 games in September. The over is 3-0-1 in Bulldogs last 4 vs. Pac-12 and the under is 4-0 in Bulldogs last 4 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points with the over going 5-0 in Bulldogs last 5 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game. No line is out as we wait to see what is going on with Wilson so please check back…
