The Line: Ga Southern Eagles -14.5 -- Over/Under: 54
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks visit Paulson Stadium to face the Georgia Southern Eagles.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks began the year in great shape at 3-1 but unfortunately did not see the win column again until a 30-17 victory at New Mexico State in week 13. This was once a 17-17 contest before the Warhawks defense took control with 378 yards with a fumble recovery and an interception getting the job done. The Warhawks totaled 420 yards behind a pass heavy attack which is nothing new. The rushing game finished with 70 yards and just over 2 1/2 yards per try but the air game more then made up for the lack of a rushing game. Pete Thomas connected on 35-50 for 350 yards with a touchdown and pick with Kenzee Jackson snagging 13 balls for 108 yards.
Win, lose or draw the Georgia Southern Eagles head in to the final regular season game knowing they will be going to a Bowl. A win guarantees them the Sun Belt title with an 8-0 conference mark. The Eagles are coming off a bye week which they entered on a 52-19 defeat at the hands of Navy which ended a seven game winning streak. The Eagles took a 7-0 lead before the Midshipmen went on a 31-0 run to take control. The difference here was the defense couldn't contain Keenan Reynolds who accounted for 348 yards that combined with three turnovers to essentially put this game in the column marked 'L'. Matt Breida paced a solid rushing attack with 210 yards with two TD's but Kevin Ellison and Favian Upshaw threw for 73 yards and an interception each which was tough to overcome.
The Warhawks are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games in November and are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall while going 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win. For Georgia Southern the Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while going 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games on grass. I don't think Louisiana-Monroe comes close to pulling off the upset so Georgia Southern wins but over two touchdowns doesn't make want to run out and bet them...
