The Line: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets +16 -- Over/Under:
The Clemson Tigers and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will meet up at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday in college football action.
Clemson enters this game at 3-0 so far, following an opening-week victory over Furman 48-7, a tight win over Texas A&M 28-26 and a blowout of GA Southern 38-7 this past Saturday in their most recent game.
In that GAS game, Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence threw for 194 yards, one TD and one pick, while Travis Etienne carried 16 times for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Leading the Tigers receivers was Justyn Ross on 103 yards and a TD.
As for Georgia Tech, they’re currently 1-2 on the season. The Jackets beat Alcorn State 41-0 in their first game, then lost to South Florida 49-38 and Pittsburgh 24-19 in their most recent pair of outings.
Georgia Tech QB TaQuon Marshal did his usual thing this past Saturday against Pitt, running for 103 yards and two TDs while completing six passes for 66 yards with a pick. Brad Stewart caught half the completions with three grabs for 33 yards.
The Tigers are 3-8 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss. Clemson is 1-4 ATS in their last five in September and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall.
Meanwhile, the Jackets are 7-2 ATS in their last nine home games and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 following an ATS loss. GT is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five conference games and 1-3-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record.
Clemson has done what they’re supposed to do this year so far, and even got a victory the one time they were tested in this young season. As for Georgia Tech, defenses seem to be keying into their offensive strategy, which is run, run, and keep running. I don’t think Clemson will have much trouble defending a one-sided attack (even though that one side is very good), so I’m going Tigers in this one.
