The Line: Notre Dame Fighting Irish +2 -- Over/Under: 57.5
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take their option on the road to face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have had their option operating at peak efficiency in building a 2-0 start. The Yellow Jackets dominated Tulane 65-10 in week two with the Green Wave held to 248 yards and a pair of turnovers. GT amassed 571 yards and 28 first downs and 34 minutes of possession. Justin Thomas did a little of everything for the Yellow Jackets with 97 passing yards on 7-9 with a pair of touchdowns while rushing ten times for 71 yards and another score. Matthew Jordan led Georgia Tech with 72 yards on just three touches with a trip to the end zone while Patrick Skov and Brady Swilling combined for 99 yards.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish overcame the loss of quarterback Malik Zaire to squeeze past Virginia 34-27 as a two touchdown road favorite. Zaire fractured his ankle but before he did he threw for 115 yards including a 59 yard scoring strike to William Fuller while running for 87 yards on ten carries with a score to give the Irish a dual threat under center. DeShone Kize stepped in and the Irish didn’t miss a beat with 92 yards through the air with a pair of scores including a 39 yard TD to Fuller with 12 seconds remaining to win it. The star for Notre Dame was CJ Prosise who rumbled for 155 yards and made a pair of trips to the end zone.
The Yellow Jackets are 9-0 ATS in their last 9 games overall and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games while going 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The over is 4-0 in Fighting Irish last 4 vs. a team with a winning record and is 5-0 in Fighting Irish last 5 games following a ATS loss while going 7-1 in Fighting Irish last 8 games overall. This line looks strange to me and seems almost trapish but I’ll bite…
