|Date & Time||Saturday October 3, 2015, 3:30 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Georgia Bulldogs -1.5 -- Over/Under: 53.5
The Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide face off on Saturday in Athens in a college football battle of SEC heavyweights.
The Georgia Bulldogs are off to a 4-0 start as they play their third SEC game of the year. The Georgia offense is averaging 45.5 points and 491.2 yards per game turning the ball over just three times. Bulldog QB Greyson Lambert has completed 76.5 percent of his passes for seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Nick Chubb anchors the Georgia rushing attack averaging 8.4 yards per carry with six touchdowns and Sony Michel is averaging 7.0 yards per carry with four touchdowns while Malcolm Mitchell is the top receiver with 20 catches and three touchdowns. The UGA defense is allowing 13.5 points and 273.2 yards per game with five interceptions and eight sacks. Leonard Floyd and Jordan Jenkins lead the Dawgs with 23 tackles each and Quincy Mauger, Dominick Sanders, and Tim Kimbrough each have 20 tackles. Georgia has been convincing but they haven’t played this level of competition yet this season.
The Alabama Crimson Tide bounced back from their first loss of the season by beating and shutting out ULM but now they get back to SEC action. The Alabama offense is averaging 35.8 points and 460 yards per game but they have turned the ball over eight times. Tide QB Jake Coker has completed just 55.3 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and four interceptions. The Alabama rushing attack is led by Derrick henry who is averaging 6.3 yards per carry with eight touchdowns and the top receiver is ArDarius Stewart with 21 catches and two touchdowns and Calvin Ridley has 17 catches. The Alabama defense hasn’t been as solid as they have been in recent years allowing 17.5 points and 267 yards per game with four interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and 11 sacks. Reggie Ragland leads Alabama with 34 tackles, Jarran Reed has 20 tackles, and Reuben Foster has 18 tackles.
Georgia is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven SEC games, 5-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 6-13-1 against the spread following a win. Alabama is 2-5 against the spread following a win, 2-5 against the spread in their last seven road games, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five games. The underdog has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two teams.
The total in this one is set at 53.5 and this one is an over all the way as the defenses just aren't as good as the offenses. My stronger pick is on the winning team against the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
