The Oregon State Beavers and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will match up in college football action on Saturday.
Oregon State comes in here at 0-1 on the young season, falling 52-36 to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The Beavers were down 31-16 after the first half, and despite scoring 20 in the second they never really got close.
Oregon State’s Jake Luton tossed for 251 yards and three touchdowns in the opener, while Jermar Jefferson had 16 totes for 87 yards. Isaiah Hodgins was the lead Beavers receiver with 170 yards and three touchdowns from nine catches.
Over on the Hawaii side, they took a victory against Arizona in their opener, finishing with a 45-38 win. The Warriors coughed up 35 points between the second and third quarters but managed to hold on.
Hawaii’s Cole McDonald had 378 yards with four TDs and four interceptions in the Week 1 win, and Dayton Furuta put up 42 yards and a score on the ground. Leading the Warriors receivers was Cedric Byrd, with a whopping 224 yards and four scores on 14 catches.
The Beavers are 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the MWC and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games. Oregon State is 2-5 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 1-6 in their last seven on turf.
Meanwhile, the Warriors are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 versus the Pac-12 and 14-35-2 ATS in their last 51 overall. Hawaii is also 1-4-1 ATS in the last six non-conference games and 6-20 ATS versus a team with a losing record.
Oregon State put up some nice offensive numbers and scored pretty consistently in their opening-week loss, but they were torched on the other side and sabotaged themselves from getting near a win.
Hawaii’s got some good offensive capabilities as well, but they made some major mistakes in their Week 1 game that very well could have turned the tide. I like this one to be a high-scoring, fun game to watch, but I’m going with the Beavers on the cover.
