The Wyoming Cowboys will travel to Aloha Stadium to take on the Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors this Saturday night in College Football action.

The Wyoming Cowboys dropped to 2-3 (0-1 MW) on the season after being defeated by the Boise State Broncos, 34-14, this past Saturday. Wyoming was overmatched from the beginning against the talented Broncos and couldn’t fight back after Boise State took a 24-0 halftime lead. Wyoming was outgained by Boise State by a 506-295 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 1-0 margin. Leading the way for the Cowboys was RB Nico Evans who had 141 rushing yards and a TD on just 12 carries. On the season, Wyoming is averaging 18.4 ppg on 302.2 total yards per game (160.4 passing yds/g; 141.8 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Wyoming has been led by the RB duo of Nico Evans (18.0 att/g; 140.0 yds/g; 4 TD) & Jevon Bigelow (11.0 att/g; 39.8 yds/g; 2 TD). QB Tyler Vander Waal has completed 54.4% of his passes for 3 TD & 2 INT while averaging 160.4 passing yds/g. The top receivers for the Cowboys have been James Price (1.8 rec/g; 39.6 yds/g; TD), Raghib Ismail Jr. (2.8 rec/g; 31.6 yds/g; TD), Tyree Mayfield (2.4 rec/g; 30.0 yds/g; TD), and Austin Conway (4.4 rec/g; 29.2 yds/g). Defensively, Wyoming is allowing their opponents to average 27.2 ppg on 386.0 total yards per game (255.8 passing yds/g; 130.2 rushing yds/g).

The Hawai’i Rainbow Warriors won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-1 (2-0 MW) on the season after defeating the San Jose State Spartans, 44-41, in a thrilling 5 overtime game. Hawai’i was down for the majority of the game however, was able to tie the game with a 4-yd TD reception by John Ursua with 4:34 left in regulation and won in the 5th OT after a 35-yard Ryan Meskell FG. Hawai’i was outgained by San Jose State by a 490-475 margin and lost the turnover battle by a 2-0 margin. On the season, Hawai’i is averaging 42.0 ppg on 495.8 total yards per game (351.3 passing yds/g; 144.5 rushing yds/g). Offensively, Hawai’i has been led by QB Cole McDonald who has completed 65.0% of his passes for 24 TD & 2 INT while averaging 350.0 passing yds/g. The top receivers for McDonald and the Rainbow Warriors have been John Ursua (8.3 rec/g; 128.5 yds/g; 12 TD), Cedric Byrd (7.3 rec/g; 81.8 yds/g; 6 TD), and JoJo Ward (4.3 rec/g; 71.3 yds/g; 3 TD). Leading the way for the Rainbow Warriors has been Fred Holly III who had 4 rushing TD’s while averaging 55.5 rushing yds/g on 11.8 att/g. Defensively, Hawai’i is allowing their opponents to average 32.3 ppg on 438.5 total yards per game (279.3 passing yds/g; 159.2 rushing yds/g).

The Cowboys are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games in October however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Rainbow Warriors are 14-36-1 ATS in their last 51 conference games and 5-20-1 ATS n their last 26 home games.

Wyoming was expected to take a step back this season after losing Josh Allen, however, the Cowboys have really struggled this season as they barley defeated the FCS Wofford Terriers and have lost by at least 20 points to Washington State, Missouri, and Boise State. Wyoming has a decent running game, however, they just haven’t been able to put points up on the board as they currently rank just  122nd in scoring offense. Hawai’i had a much more difficult time taking care of San Jose State than I expected, however, it’s been a great start for the Rainbow Warriors led by their passing attack that ranks 6th in the country. Wyoming’s defense has had trouble agianst solid passing attacks this season and as I think Hawai’i at home will be able to put up some points, I’m taking the Rainbow Warriors to cover this small spread.

Pick:
Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors -3
