The Line: Houston Cougars -21 -- Over/Under:
The Tulsa Golden Hurriccane visitr the TDECU Stadium to take the field with the Houston Cougars.
The Tulsa Golden Hurricane are obviously not the same team of years past when they were a constant threat to win the CUSA. The Golden Hurricane have lost too much talent on both sides of the ball and it showed in a 31-7 defeat at Central Florida in week 12 that dropped their record to 2-8. The Knights led 17-7 at the break and never looked back on their way to over 500 yards while Tulsa struggled to break 200 yards. While Central Florida could run and throw the Golden Hurricane did neither well with seven players running for 19 yards and almost five yard average but they needed a big effort in the air and that never happened. Dane Evans completed 9-28 for 69 yards with a touchdown and three costly picks.
The Houston Cougars control their future; win and a Bowl invitation is their's. The Cougars had looked very good in winning three in a row before falling flat in a 31-24 loss to struggling Tulane as a 17 point favorite. Both sides of the ball struggled in a 17-7 second half that belonged to the Green Wave. Houston held the visitors to 361 yards and easily outgained them with 426 yards but were hurt by whopping five turnovers. The Cougars were unable to establish th'e run which meant moving the chains and finding the endzone but quarterback Greg Ward Jr. was erratic. Ward connected on 30-45 for 336 yards with a pair of touchdowns but four interceptions negated what was otherwise a solid performance in the air.
The over is 4-0 in Golden Hurricane last 4 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game and is 4-0 in Golden Hurricane last 4 games following a S.U. loss while the over is 4-0 in Golden Hurricane last 4 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. For Houston the under is 5-0 in Cougars last 5 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game and is 5-0 in Cougars last 5 games following a bye week while the Cougars are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. Head to head the under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings and the underdog is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings. I actually don't like either squad and don't like backing either so I'll take the points...
