The Line: Idaho Vandals -7 -- Over/Under:
Over at the ASUI-Kibbie Dome in Moscow on Saturday, December 3, we’ve got a fun college football matchup between the Georgia State Panthers and the Idaho Vandals.
Idaho comes into this game with a 7-4 record on the year and has been surging late, winning five of their last six games. That includes a 38-31 win over South Alabama this past Saturday, during which Idaho RB Isaiah Saunders rattled off 23 carries for 142 yards and three touchdowns.
On the season so far, Matt Linehan leads the Vandals at QB with 2677 yards, 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, while Aaron Duckworth is tops on the ground with 130 carries for 576 yards and four touchdowns. Deon Watson is the top receiver for Idaho with 35 catches for 538 yards and one score.
Over on the Georgia State side, they’ve got a 3-8 record heading into this one and have lost three of their last four. The Panthers did get a win in their last appearance November 19 against Georgia Southern 30-24, however. In that game, Georgia State QB Conner Manning went 21-of-39 for 318 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the year for the Panthers thus far, Manning is sitting on 2418 yards with 14 touchdowns and nine picks, while Kyler Neal is the top rusher with 60 carries for 268 yards and two touchdowns. Robert Davis is the Panthers’ top receiver on 58 catches for 856 yards and five scores.
Georgia State is 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a straight-up win, and 6-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Georgia State is also 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 conference games, and 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win.
As for Idaho, they’re 6-0 ATS in their last six conference games, and 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a straight-up win. Idaho is also 5-0 ATS in their last five games following an ATS win, and 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall.
The probable outcome of this game should be quite evident: Georgia State isn’t a good football team and Idaho outshines them in most measurements. Where that’s most noticeable is the running game, which is a strength for the Vandals and a comparable soft spot for the Panthers. Idaho should be able to start there and build a convincing win, so I’ll take the Vandals to cover here in a wall-to-wall, clock-controlling game.
