Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks (1-5) at Idaho Vandals (2-4)
|Date & Time||Saturday October 24, 2015, 5:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Idaho Vandals +1.5 -- Over/Under: 63
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks travel to the Kibbie Dome to tangle with the Idaho Vandals.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks have faced a tough schedule in the early going and too tough judging by their 1-5 record. Neither side of the ball has been able to hold up their end of the bargain which was obvious in their 59-14 loss to visiting Appalachian State in week seven. The Mountaineers did as they pleased offensively with 654 yards while the defense held ULM to 350 yards and forced a pair of turnovers. UL Monroe needed more from quarterback Garrett Smith and the passing attack that produced 192 yards and two touchdowns an a pair of picks on 17-30. Marcus Green led the Warhawks in receiving with six catches for 68 yards and a score while Ben Luckett ran for 65 yards on eight totes and Kaylon Watson added 47 yards on eleven totes.
The Idaho Vandals do show improvement over previous seasons but enough to win enough games to become Bowl eligible is not looking good right now. The Vandals stand at 2-4after scratching out a 19-16 victory at Troy to snap a two game skid. The Vandals have generally struggled defensively and even though they were outgained 381-330 they recovered two fumbles and recorded a pair of interceptions. Quarterback Matt Linehan struggled with accuracy with 180 yards on just 15-31 with star receiver Dezmon Epps hauling in ten balls for 131 yards while Elijhaa Penny was the Vandals their lone running threat with 54 yards on ten carries.
The Warhawks are 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in October and are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a losing home record while the under is 6-0 in Warhawks last 6 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game. The under is 4-0 in Vandals last 4 games following a ATS win and the over is 3-0-1 in Vandals last 4 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game while the Vandals are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games after scoring less than 20 points in their previous game. The underdog is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the road team is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. On paper it seems like the Warhawks can run and that’s what I’m banking on…
