The Line: North Carolina Tar Heels -7 -- Over/Under: 64
The Illinois Fighting Illini take the field at Kenan Memorial Stadium against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The Illinois Fighting Illini will be looking for a 3-0 start after throttling FCS Western Illinois 44-0. This was a mismatch from the word go with Illinois up 30-0 entering the half with the Leathernecks held to just 141 yards and five first downs while giving the ball away twice. The Illini rolled up 500 yards but did falter several times with three lost fumbles and a pick. West Lunt fueled the Illinois offense with 316 passing yards with a touchdown and interception with Geronimo Allison hauling in eight balls for 124 yards. Ke’Shawn Vaughn led an ordinary Illini rushing game with 53 yards on 15 carries but it didn’t matter with WIU unable to move the ball.
The North Carolina Tar Heels opened the season with a tough loss to South Carolina but they took out their frustration on North Carolina A&T 53-14 to even their record at 1-1. This was 53-0 until the Tar Heels took their foot off the gas in the 4th and subbed frequently. UNC totaled 463 yards with the Aggies held to 273 yards and three turnovers which killed them. Marquise Williams gave the Heels 211 passing yards on 15-20 with a pair of scores with Kendrick Singleton snagging two balls for 57 yards and a touchdown while ten players recorded receptions. The North Carolina rushing attack was okay with Elijah Hood totaling 56 yards on 16 touches with two scores while Williams added another 53 yards and a TD on just four totes.
The under is 6-0 in Fighting Illini last 6 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game while the Fighting Illini are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game. And the under is 7-1 in Fighting Illini last 8 games following a SU win of more than 20 points. The under is 4-0 in Tar Heels last 4 games following a S.U. win and is 4-0 in Tar Heels last 4 games following a ATS win while the Tar Heels are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a SU win of more than 20 points.
