The Michigan State Spartans and Indiana Hoosiers meet Saturday in college football action at Memorial Stadium.
The Michigan State Spartans look for their first road win of the season to get a game above a .500 record. The Michigan State Spartans have split their last six road games. Brian Lewerke is completing 69.4 percent of his passes for 601 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Lewerke has two or more touchdown passes in four of his last eight games. Cody White and Felton Davis III have combined for 316 receiving yards and three touchdowns while Darrell Stewart Jr. has 12 receptions. The Michigan State Spartans ground game is averaging 114 yards per contest, and LJ Scott leads the way with 103 yards on 30 carries. Defensively, Michigan State is allowing 23.5 points and 384 yards per game. Joe Bachie leads the Michigan State Spartans with 21 tackles, Kenny Willekes has two sacks and Khari Willis has one interception.
The Indiana Hoosiers look for a statement home win to start 4-0 for the second time in the last four years. The Indiana Hoosiers have won five of their last seven home games. Peyton Ramsey is completing 73.7 percent of his passes for 479 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. Ramsey has eight touchdown passes in his last four games. The Spartans are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss, 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games on fieldturf and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games. The Hoosiers are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 conference games, 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games on fieldturf and 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall. The Spartans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings, the favorite is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings and the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.
The Michigan State Spartans have had an extra week to prepare for this game, but I'm not sure any of that matters unless the offense can improve. Michigan State has struggled to run the football through two games and is coming off a game against Arizona State in which it couldn't get anything going. The Indiana Hoosiers are feeling themselves a bit and the defense has improved by leaps and bounds when you compare it to the last few years. While we're still young in the season, the Indiana Hoosiers have looked like the better team up to this point. The Michigan State Spartans have also failed to cover eight of their last nine road games when favored by at least three points. Give me Indiana and the points at home.
