CFB | Iowa State Cyclones (2-4) at Baylor Bears (6-0)

The Baylor Bears hope to stay perfect when they take the field at McLane Stadium Saturday.

The Iowa State Cyclones are struggling to put up points and keep opponents from doing the same which is why they stand at 2-4. The Cyclones have dropped consecutive contests following  a 45-21 loss to visiting TCU in week seven. ISU did all their scoring in the first quarter on the way to 461 yards and two lost fumbles. The Horned Frogs piled up 621 yards and never let their foot off the gas. Quarterback Sam Richardson gave the Cyclones a decent passing attack with 251 yards on 22-36 while Joel Lanning hit Allen Lazard with a 74 yard scoring strike. Mike Warren was Iowa State’s lone running threat with 78 yards on 22 carries with a TD but the problem for the offense was they did nothing after the first quarter.

The Baylor Bears continue to score like nobodies business which is why they are 6-0 and a NC contender. West Virginia was the latest to try their hand at stopping the Bears but a 62-38 final said they had little success with BU racking up nearly 700 yards in whatever fashion they chose. The focus of the Baylor attack was the passing of Seth Russell who completed 20-33 for 380 yards and five touchdowns. Corey Coleman paced the Bears receiving corps with ten receptions for 199 yards and three scores while Jay Lee caught three balls for 89 yards and a pair of TD’s. Russell also led Baylor on the ground with 160 yards on 14 totes with a TD while Shock Linwood added 84 yards and another TD.

The under is 8-0 in Cyclones last 8 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points and is 6-0 in Cyclones last 6 games following a ATS loss while going  7-0 in Cyclones last 7 games following a S.U. loss. The Bears are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and the Bears are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game while the over is 6-1-1 in Bears last 8 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. The favorite is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings and the Cyclones are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Baylor while the home team is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings. There is up to ten inches of rain forecast for this game so I don’t know what kind of betting opportunity this is…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
