The Line: Texas Tech Red Raiders -5.5 -- Over/Under: 72.5
The Kansas State Wildcats look to slow down the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road Saturday.
Kansas State kicked of the season with three consecutive wins but things have gone downhill since with five consecutive defeats after a late rally fell short in a 31-24 loss to visiting Baylor. Despite losing Seth Russell the Bears rolled up 522 yards while the Wildcats totaled 430 yards and turned the ball over three times. Quarterback Joe Hubener didn’t get the Kansas State passing attack going with 151 yards with a touchdown and interception on 12-21 while Kody Cook caught six balls for 71 yards and tossed a pick. Hubener was more of a force in the Wildcats rushing attack with 153 yards and a pair of scores on 29 carries while Charles Jones added 76 yards on 16 touches.
After three straight defeats the Texas Tech Red Raiders have dropped to 5-5 and are now fighting for their postseason lives. The Red Raiders are coming off of a winnable 31-26 loss at West Virginia where they were outgained 449-379 with a balanced attack that lacked punch. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes II gave the Red Raiders 196 passing yards and three touchdowns and a pick on 21-34 with leading receiver DeAndre Washington grabbing six passes for 64 yards and a score while leading the rushing attack with 102 yards on 21 carries. The bottom line is an explosive Red Raiders offense was held in check.
The over is 6-1 in Wildcats last 7 games following a ATS win and is 5-1 in Wildcats last 6 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while the Wildcats are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in November. The over is 8-0 in Red Raiders last 8 home games and the Red Raiders are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in November while the over is 9-1 in Red Raiders last 10 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. The Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 meetings and the over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Texas Tech while going 6-1 in the last 7 meetings. I usually take points with Kansas State but I think the Red Raiders are too much for them here…
