The Line: Kent State Golden Flashes +4.5 -- Over/Under:
The Kent State Golden Flashes close the season at Dix Stadium with a visit from the Akron Zips.
The Akron Zips can become Bowl eligible with a road win over Kent State in week 14 but whether a 6-6 record would be good enough is the question. The Zips at least gave themselves a chance with a 30-6 victory over shothanded UMass who were playing their backup at quarterback. This wasn't close with Akron jumping to a 20-0 lead at the break with their defense holding the Minutemen to 235 yards and four turnovers. The Zips pass heavy attack totaled 411 yards with Kyle Pohl completing 26-40 for 277 yards with a pair of touchdowns with Zach D'Orazio snagging ten balls for 121 yards. Jawon Chisholm and Conor Hundley gave the running game some punch with 146 yards on 34 carries which was plenty with UMass struggling to move the ball.
The Kent State Golden Flashes look to snap a three game skid and end the season with just their second win of the year. The Golden Flashes have had a week off to come up with a game plan which hopefull will give the offense a boost as the scoring has been sporadic at best. Kent State comes in off of a 30-20 loss at Bowling Green as a 14 point underdog that got as close as 23-20. The Falcons held a hefty 527-328 yardage edge and won the turnover battle 5-2 yet somehow the Golden Flashes got stops to keep things competitive. The offense was completely one dimensional with 22 rushing yards so Colin Reardon tried to move the chains through the air which was up and down. Reardon connected on 24-37 for 284 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions.
The Zips are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game with the under is 4-0 in Zips last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game and 4-0 in Zips last 4 games following a S.U. win. For Kent State the under is 5-0-1 in Golden Flashes last 6 conference games and is 3-0-1 in Golden Flashes last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game while the Golden Flashes are 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win. Head to head the uUnder is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings while the Zips are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings with the underdog is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 meetings. Backing either squad is risky business but the home team has done well in this match up so...
