The Line: Kent State Golden Flashes +8.5 -- Over/Under:
The Central Michigan Chippewas can stay in the postseason hunt with a week 12 victory at the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The defensive minded Central Michigan Chippewas are 5-5 with a pair of games remaining and control their own fate as far as the postseason is concerned. The Chippewas made their lives difficult in a 28-23 loss to visiting Toledo that could have wrapped up a Bowl berth. The Rockets led the yardage battle 485-408 and could run and throw but CMU never established the run with less then 60 yards. Quarterback Cooper Rush did give the Chips plenty through the air with 349 yards and two touchdowns with an interception on 33-52 with top target Jesse Kroll logging seven receptions for 130 yards but the team could not get in to the end zone in the final minutes.
The Kent State Golden Flashes have hit the skids with the regular season winding down and their postseason dreams have been put on hold for another year. The Golden Flashes are coming off of a 27-0 loss at Ohio in week eleven where they were outgained 447-191 and gave the ball away twice. The defense struggled to contain Bobcats quarterback Derrius Vick while Kent State could not move the chains with the rushing attack producing little more the three yards per touch. The passing of George Bollas wasn’t moving the chains either as he connected on 16-31 for111 yards and a pair of interceptions with top receiver Antwan Dixon catching five balls for 62 yards including a 44 yarder.
The Chippewas are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss and are 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 Wednesday games while the under is 4-0 in Chippewas last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. The under is 4-0 in Golden Flashes last 4 games after allowing less than 170 yards passing in their previous game and is 5-0 in Golden Flashes last 5 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game while going 5-0 in Golden Flashes last 5 games following a ATS loss. I think Central Michigan flies under the radar at times and are a decent squad…
