CFB | Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (1-3) at Kent State Golden Flashes (1-3)

The Miami (OH) Redhawks will travel to Dix Stadium to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes in College Football Action this Saturday afternoon.

The Miami (OH) Redhawks had no answers for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers offense and fell to 1-3 (0-0 MAC) on the season after being defeated 56-14 this past Saturday. The Redhawks came out of the gates flat against Western Kentucky as they found themselves down 49-7 by halftime. Miami (OH) was outgained by the Hilltoppers by a 569-291 margin and committed 4 turnovers in the loss. Offensively, Miami (OH) is averaging just 18.3 ppg on the season and have been led by WR Sam Martin who has 12 receptions for 204 yards and a TD on the season. The Redhawks have had multiple quarterbacks under center for them this season and have been led by Drew Kummer who has 571 yards, 6 TD’s and 2 Int on the season. Leading the rushing attack for Miami (OH) has been Alonzo Smith who has 163 yards and 2 TD’s on 38 carries. The Redhawks defense has struggled this season and is currently allowing their opponents to average 39.5 ppg this season. Miami (OH) has been able to generate 7 turnovers this season but has had trouble protecting the ball on offensive as they’ve committed 11 turnovers. Leading the way for the defense has been LB Paul Moses who has 32 tackles and 3.0 sacks on the season.

The Kent State Golden Flashes dropped their second straight game and fell to 1-3 (0-0 MAC) on the season after being defeated by Marshall Thundering Herd 36-29 in double OT this past Saturday. Kent State outgained Marshall by a 436-277 margin but couldn’t hold on to 19-7 lead that the held late in the third quarter. Offensively, Kent State is currently averaging 21.0 ppg and is led by QB Colin Reardon who has thrown for 550 yards, 5 TD’s and 3 INT on the season. The Golden Flashes uses a variety of RB’s as they currently have three RB’s who received 25+ carries and are led by Trayvon Durham who had 205 yards and 2 TD’s on 52 carries. Leading the way for the WR’s is Kris White who has 9 receptions and 155 yards. Defensively, Kent State is allowing their opponents to score 27.8 ppg. The Golden Flashes have shown a great rushing defensive as they’ve held their opponents to just an average of 2.14 yards/carry on the season. The Golden Flashes have a plus-2 turnover margin on the season and have been led by DB Nate Holley (36 tackles, 1.5 sacks) and DL Terence Waugh (19 tackles, 6.5 sacks).

The Redhawks are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a S.U. loss and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 conference games. The Golden Flashes are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Miami (OH) was able to play a good Cincinnati team tough pretty tough earlier this season but outside of that game, has looked really bad on the offensive end in their two losses against Wisconsin and WKU. Kent State was blown out at Illinois to start their season but has looked good in their recent losses at Minnesota and at home against Marshall. Miami (OH) was able to pick up one of their two wins last year against Kent State however, I don’t think they are going to be able to find their offensive against a decent Kent State defense and I think the Golden Flashes will pull away in the second half of this one and cover this spread.
