The Florida Gators and the Kentucky Wildcats meet in a week 3 SEC conference college football matchup from Kroger Field on Saturday night.
The Florida Gators will look to build on their 2-0 start to the season after a 45-0 win over Tennessee-Martin in their last outing. Feleipe Franks has thrown for 524 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 42 of 54 passing for a 77.8% completion percentage. Lamical Perine has 93 rushing yards to lead the Gators while Josh Hammond leads Florida with 115 receiving yards and Van Jefferson is Florida’s 2nd 100-yard receiver this season with 108 receiving yards. Defensively, Kyree Campbell leads Florida with 10 tackles while Jabari Zuniga has a team-high 3 sacks and Ventrell Miller has a pair of sacks as well. As a team, Florida is averaging 423.5 yards of total offense and 34.5 points per game this season.
The Kentucky Wildcats will also look for a solid conference win to remain unbeaten after climbing to 2-0 with a 38-17 win over Eastern Michigan in their last outing. Terry Wilson has thrown for 360 yards and 2 touchdowns on 33 of 52 passing for a 63.5% completion percentage while Kavosley Smoke leads Kentucky in rushing with 170 yards and Asim Rose has 146 rushing yards with both adding a pair of rushing touchdowns this season. Lynn Bowden Jr. leads Kentucky in receiving with 13 catches for 131 yards while Ahmad Wagner is Kentucky’s 2nd 100-yard receiver so far this season with 128 receiving yards. Defensively, DeAndre Square leads UK with 16 tackles while Yusuf Corker is right behind with 14 tackles this season. As a team, Kentucky is averaging 441.5 yards of total offense and 38 points per game this season.
Florida is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games following a win. Kentucky is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 5-14 ATS in their last 19 home games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. Florida is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings between these two teams and 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Kentucky.
I’m tempted to take Kentucky and the points at home, but the fact is that Florida is the better team here and have gotten the upper hand on the Wildcats both overall and in Lexington over the years. I just think that Kentucky is also the deeper team side by side and have done a good job against the number on the road dating back to last season. I think the Gators could win this game by 10-14 points so I’ll lay the points with Florida in this one.
