The Line: Kentucky Wildcats -14 -- Over/Under: 50.5
The Kentucky Wildcats and the Vanderbilt Commodores face off on Saturday in Lexington in a SEC college football matchup.
The Kentucky Wildcats have had a week off to let their loss to Florida sink in a little as they let one get away in overtime. Even with the loss to the Gators UK is 2-1 on the year and look to be greatly improved. QB Patrick Towles has completed 581 percent of his passes with five touchdowns and three interceptions and he has rushed for 111 yards and another score. JoJo Kemp has gotten the bulk of the carries in the UK backfield averaging 3.8 yards per carry and Mikel Horton is averaging 5.3 yards per carry on 17 carries. Ryan Timmons is Kentucky’s leading receiver with 17 catches and Gareet Johnson leads the Cats with two touchdown receptions. Defensively Kentucky has three interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and seven sacks as they know this is where games are going to be won and lost in the SEC. Khalid Henderson has 21 tackles and A.J. Stamps and Josh Forrest each have 20 tackles. Kentucky has a lot to prove this year but a win here could go a long way to them getting to a bowl game.
The Vanderbilt Commodores are 1-3 for the season and this is already their third SEC game of the year after losing to Ole Miss and South Carolina. QB Patton Robinette has taken over and e hs completed 71.9 percent of his passes with two touchdowns. Ralph Webb leads the Vandy ground attack averaging 4.9 yards per carry and Steven Scheu leaves the Commodores receivers with 12 receptions. The Vandy defense has recovered five fumbles but has no interceptions with eight sacks. Nigel Bowden has 27 tackles, Caleb Azubike has four sacks, and Vince Taylor has two fumble recoveries. This looks to be a long year for Vandy.
Kentucky is 1-4 against the spread in their last five SEC games, 1-4 against the spread against a team with a losing record, and 4-12 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread. Vanderbilt is 8-2 against the spread in their last 10 road games, 4-1 against the spread in their last five SEC games, and 2-5 against the spread following a loss. The favorite has covered the point spread in the last five meetings of these two.
This is a massive point spread but Vandy is that bad this season and I look for Kentucky to win and cover the 17 points.
