Texas State Bobcats (1-3) at Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (1-3)
|Date & Time||Saturday October 10, 2015, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns -5 -- Over/Under:
The Texas State Bobcats travel to Cajun Field to battle the Louisiana-Lafayette Raging Cajuns.
The Texas State Bobcats wanted to avoid a slow start to the season but have fallen to 1-3 after a 59-14 defeat at Houston in week four. The Bobcats were shell shocked as they trailed 42-7after 30 minutes and were never a threat. Stopping the Cougars was the obvious problem with UH rolling up almost 700 yards which dwarfed the Bobcats 401 yards. The turnover bug also bit Texas State with four giveaways making a bad situation worse. Without a productive rushing attack to lean on the Bobcats turned to the passing of Tyler Jones who connected on 29-44 for 288 yards and a pair of interceptions including a pick six with Demun Mercer and Jafus Gaines catching six balls each for 131 yards.
The Louisiana-Lafayette Raging Cajuns seem like they are always in the mix for the Sun Belt crown but they need to reverse their slow start. ULL has struggled in back to back defeats following a 43-14 loss at rival Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs led 29-7 at the half with a safety and pick six hurting the Raging Cajuns who gained 331 yards and turned the ball over three times while committing eight penalties which made the Bulldogs 428 yards look even better. Elijah McGuire paced UL Lafayette on the ground with 84 yards on 12 totes and was the leading receiver with 70 yards on six catches including a 49 yards TD. Quarterback Jalen Nixon gave the Ragin’ Cajuns 161 yards through the air with a TD and a pick six while adding 54 yards on the ground but he was only 17-33 passing which probably didn’t matter the wa La Tech was playing.
The over is 3-0-1 in Bobcats last 4 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and is is 3-0-1 in Bobcats last 4 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points while going 4-0-1 in Bobcats last 5 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. The under is 4-0 in Ragin' Cajuns last 4 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and the over is 6-1 in Ragin' Cajuns last 7 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game while ULL are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games. I think this is too many points although both teams have baffled me in the past…
